MEET OUR PASTOR - Reverend Dwaine Anthony Jackson

Reverend Dwaine Jackson accepted his calling to the ministry in 1992.  Since then, he has devoted his life to the work of the Kingdom.  At Bethel AME LA, Rev. Jackson served as minister to the youth and young adults, where he facilitated mentoring programs and activities that developed the faith capacity of youth and young adults.  He also served as minister to the men; collaborating on ways to encourage, uplift, and support laymen and the surrounding community.

Rev Jackson helped to found and organize The Genesis Day Camp which was a low or no cost summer day camp for youth in the South LA community. Rev Jackson is also the co-founder of Rebirth Youth and Family Center which specialized in Youth mentor programs and housing homeless young adults that were involved with the criminal justice system or Department of children and Family Services. He was also appointed the coordinator of the Southern California Son of Success program of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Through these various ministry opportunities, God was able to refine his gifts.  By a move of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Dwaine Jackson was appointed as the Pastor of Bethel AME Barstow during the closing of the 87th session of the Southern California Conference of the 5th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church by The Right Reverend T. Larry Kirkland.

In 2013 Rev. Dwaine was assigned as the new Pastor of St James AME Church where he served three years. During his time at St James he was the Chairman of the board for the St James Community Development Corp. Rev Jackson was instrumental in bringing a homeless shelter to the church and housing transitional aged youth during the winter months as well as providing a summer lunch program for youth in the community.

During the 92nd session of the Southern California Annual Conference Rev Dwaine Jackson was appointed Pastor of Bryant Temple by Bishop Clement W. Fugh, where he serves as Pastor and CEO as well as the President of the Board of Directors of the Bryant Temple AME CDC, this corporation currently feeds the hungry, house the homeless, and they provided over 150 families with food and toys for their children during the holiday season. Rev Jackson continues to strive to improve the lives of young people but more importantly their entire family.

Pastor Dwaine is married to Lashawnda Renea and they are proud parents.  He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. At present, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from Wilberforce University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.   Additionally, he holds a Masters of Divinity from Payne Theological Seminary.   Pastor Dwaine says glory to God for the things that he has done and says that what he wants the world to know that falling in love with Jesus is the best thing that he’s ever done.
